Recommendation for IEEE Milestone Recognition for Toyota Prius -- TM (talk) 12:58, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Dear Proposer, I am the chairman of Electric Drive Technology Committee of A Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, Inc.

So, I would like to recommend the Toyota Prius. I make believe that the Toyota Prius, proposed for the IEEE Milestone, should be recognized for the following reasons. My understanding is that the introduction of the mass-produced hybrid vehicle Prius by Toyota in 1997 was a groundbreaking event that served as a catalyst for the evolution and acceleration of electric-related technologies, aiming to reduce environmental impact. Especially, It was remarkable point that the series-parallel hybrid format of the Prius enabled simultaneous advancements in essential technologies for current electric vehicles. This includes the high efficiency of motors that also function as generators, the increased capacity and miniaturization of batteries, and the enhanced performance of power supply components such as inverters and power control units. I am confident that these advancements laid the foundation for the development of electric vehicle technologies we have today. Takahi Majima
